BESS Project
Apeldoorn

Evergy was mandated to conduct Technical Due Diligence for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project under development in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.

The BESS was planned to be installed at the border of the city of Apeldoorn, on the site of an existing solar PV plant that has been operational for two years. To accommodate the BESS, a small section of the PV installation is to be dismantled. At the time of the mandate, both the building permit and grid connection agreement were already in place. The BESS was expected to connect at the same medium-voltage interconnection point used by the existing PV plant.

The services of Evergy comprised in particular:

  • Verification of the technical concept
  • Review of technical design
  • Assessment of permitting status
  • Review of existing grid connection contract and required amendment for the BESS

A floating solar park Uivermeertjes has impressed me the most. It’s one of the biggest floating PV parks in Europe and I was there to make the inspection. Floating solar farms are technically challenging and allow to save area on dry land.
